That is a sub-floor, make of real wood, not plywood. I don't ever use plywood. The real woods are red oak, maple, pine, and various others locally grown and harvested.

Using a bunch of Oak on this project because the Spruce and Pine just did not last from the original builder. Spruce and Pine are great, in dry locations, and Oak is greater. Now a days you don't see as many new builders using oak, partly because it requires top of the line machinery to process based on it's durability.

This bench matches the trim work and closet shelving of the homeowner. The lumber is red oak, which is guaranteed to last multiple lifetimes.

World map in a black walnut frame along with corner shelving and my brother. That's Luke, he's "Pipermade", the best custom furniture builder I've seen, by a long shot. I can get his help on projects requiring collaboration.
